An approachable new brand message + identity
How does the architectural profession need to adapt to meet the rapidly changing needs of Canadian communities? To develop a vision for the future of the profession, Rise for Architecture needed to engage citizens in their conversation.
Together, we developed a new website and digital marketing plan to build the trust needed to inspire people to share their feedback. This research would shape their vision for the future issued as a report of learnings.
Hosting a national conversation
We asked Canadians to share what they want and need from their communities. An approachable, bilingual brand voice, identity and website were developed to collect survey responses and share campaign updates. Angus Reid Institute polled Canadians and the Rise campaign website hosted an independent survey promoted across social media and via their network of regulators.

Sharing a vision for the future
After three years of engagement with students, professionals, and the public, Rise issued a report on the Future of Architecture in Canada: A Vision for the Future. With a goal of reaching every architect in the country, we developed a campaign postcard and full-page ad in Canadian Architect, a free publication issued to architects from coast to coast.
Creating resources to continue the conversation
To empower designers asking the same big questions, we shared research and resources collected across the campaign on the Regulatory Organisation of Architects in Canada’s (ROAC) website. These include independent research on the effectiveness of architecture policies and a document with links to European architecture policies, Canadian policies, and design tools for reconciliation. They act as catalysts to empower the building sectors, educators, and governments to create inclusive, sustainable and inspiring communities for all Canadians.
“Prior to having Amanda support our initiative, we were concerned about how to obtain broad input from Canadians. We needed an injection of energy and expertise and Amanda provided that. Her effort was transformative and helped to build momentum in ways we couldn’t on our own. The campaign was a huge success and I am extremely grateful for the exceptional support that Amanda provided along the way.”
